For the last five years, Janna and I have been fortunate to spend our summers at the Chautauqua Institution south of Buffalo in upstate New York. The Institution was founded in 1874 as the Chautauqua Lake Sunday School Assembly as a camp summer recreation and study site for religious educators., has emerged as one of the most successful adult educational experiments in the country. The community is made up of about 8000 residents who participate in the 9-week season offering activities from the arts, education, recreation and religion.
